Could George Soros’s second referendum campaign to halt Brexit, launched in early June, gain momentum? George Soros is reported to have given about £500,000 to Best for Britain, which was set up last year by anti-Brexit campaigner Gina Miller.

The group publishes its campaign manifesto on 8 June calling for George Soros’s second referendum campaign. Speaking in Paris, George Soros said:

“Brexit is an immensely damaging process, harmful to both sides”. George Soros added that the “Divorce will be a long process, probably taking more than five years. Five years is an eternity in politics, especially in revolutionary times like the present”.

George Soros’s second referendum campaign is not about derailing Brexit, according to the billionaire investor.

“Ultimately, it’s up to the British people to decide what they want to do. It would be better, however, if they came to a decision sooner rather than later. That’s the goal of an initiative called the Best for Britain, which I support.,” said George Soros.

“But the British public must express its support by a convincing margin in order to be taken seriously by Europe. That’s what Best for Britain is aiming for by engaging the electorate. It will publish its manifesto in the next few days,” added George Soros.

GEORGE SOROS

George Soros’s second referendum campaign has some support. Labour MP David Lammy’s has called for a second Brexit referendum and insisted there is “no majority” in Parliament for another vote on Brexit.

If George Soros’s second referendum campaign became a reality then “people in the U.K. would vote to remain in the European Union if they were given a second in-out referendum”, according to a survey of public opinion by Politico.

In a Eurobarometer survey, involving around 1,000 people in each of the bloc’s 28 countries last month, 53 percent of respondents in the U.K. said they would back Remain and 35 percent Leave (with 12 percent undecided).

But dwindling Brexitiers argue that George Soros’s second referendum campaign is unlikely
They argue that such a move would be an affront on the democratic process and could cause civil unrest. Another possible scenario that could derail Brexit is that PM Theresa May faces a vote of no-confidence and a General election if she is unable to get the Brexit deal approved. Brexiteer chairman of the European Research Group of Tory MPs said he did not believe Mrs. May’s deal would lose by 200 votes when it is voted on in December.

George Soros’s second referendum campaign could gain momentum as the public spirit for Brexit dwindles
Mainstream stories regarding collapsing living standards post-Brexit and inability to gain access to essentials are all weighing on the public support for Brexit.

So regarding the success of George Soros’s second referendum campaign-never say never.
