McMillan has a B.S. in Mathematics from Purdue University and an M.S. in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Colorado.
Lawrence McMillan started his career working for Bell Telephone Laboratories in Whippany, NJ, from 1972 to 1976, as a computer programmer at the most senior technical level.
McMillan was a proprietary trader at two major brokerage firms – primarily Thomson McKinnon Securities, where he ran the equity arbitrage department for nine years. He then founded his own firm, McMillan in 1991.
Lawrence McMillan is perhaps best known as the author of Options As a Strategic Investment, the best-selling work on stock and index options strategies which sold more than 200,000 copies.
